Sheryl Crow came out swinging against American Idol this week, saying that the show undermines art in every way, that it's overly-commercial, and that she's saddened by how much people like it.
Point well taken, Sheryl. It's good to know how you feel about things like this. Stand up for the real artists.
While you're at it, tell us a little bit about your decision to perform on Big Brother 3 a few years ago. Certainly that was completely about the art, right? I mean, that show really has what it takes to be a major artistic powerhouse. Nothing spits in the face of commercialism and selling out like the Big Brother franchise.
It reminds me of the time she spoke out against the pressures young female pop artists face to wear next to nothing and portray the sexiest image possible. She took a strong, strong stand on that one... while wearing nothing but ripped jeans and a tight leather vest.
But, come on. This was years ago. Maybe she's really changed her tune, so to speak. Maybe she's realized that she needs to put forward her undeniable talent and let that speak for itself. I'll bet that's what's behind all this. And she probably will have lots of time to think about it in between photo shoots and press interviews surrounding her latest endeavor.
Every day is a winding road, indeed.
Indeed.

I've seen some of the Revelon ads and what I particularly like is her guitar with the custom fretboard that says "Sheryl" in inlaid mother-of-pearl (or whatever that is).
As my father likes to say, only dead people are consistent. All others are hypocrites (sp?).
